Released on DVD – May 19, 2009
My new favorite show, the first in a long time that kept me on my toes, anxious for the next episode.
True Blood is about the fiction town of Bon Temps in Louisiana, and its inhabitants – Sookie Stackhouse, a waitress at Merlotte’s Bar, is also a telepath, Sam Merlotte is her boss, and Bill Compton is the first vampire to enter the bar after they (the vampires) “come out of the coffin”.
It is such an amazing show that it’s hard to put it all into words. It’s such a diverse cast of characters and actors who come together in some way or another to help solve a set of murders involving “fang-bangers” or women who love to be bittne by vampires. But even that isn’t the worst when Sookie is dragged into vampire politics by Bill’s boss, Eric, who wants to use Sookie for his own business purposes.
When the season ends, some problems are solved but even more are entered into Sookie’s life.
Creator Alan Ball (Six Feet Under) has done an amazing job transforming Charlaine Harris’ novels into masterpiece television. Season 1 is based on book 1, Dead Until Dark, while Season 2, which has just started on HBO, is based on book 2, Living Dead in Dallas.
It’s absolutely amazing!
